Newcastle Jets members turned out in force tonight to toast to the club-s bright future at a Members Day BBQ at Camp Shortland.
More than 500 loyal members attended the event to meet the Jets players and enjoy a carnival-like atmosphere featuring face-painting, jumping castles, a trivia quiz and live performances.
The members-exclusive event comes in the wake of the team-s spectacular run of form, having gone unbeaten in the past six matches to stamp themselves as the A-League-s form team.
Jets Executive Chairman Ken Edwards said the Members Day BBQ was just one way of re-connecting and thanking the club-s members.
“We are a community driven club and our members are hugely important to us,” Edwards said.
“The Members BBQ is a way for our fans to connect with our players, and likewise, it gives the players a chance to show their appreciation for the members- support.
“It was a terrific atmosphere here tonight and it-s an indication of the great community support the Jets enjoy.
“Passionate supporters are at the heart of every sporting team and their support at our matches make all the difference to the players.”
The Jets team enjoyed a busy evening, cooking sausage sandwiches for members, participating in small-sided football games and signing autographs.
Meanwhile, Jetman made an appearance while the Bombers dancing crew also performed.
The Jets now turn their focus to a blockbuster clash against the Gold Coast on December 15 at EnergyAustralia Stadium.
