Coach Gary van Egmond will be looking to the experienced striker to lead the team up front when he makes his return.

When English striker Francis Jeffers makes his highly anticipated return to the Jets, Coach Gary van Egmond will be looking to the experienced striker to lead the team up front.

Jeffers has received the international clearance but is still awaiting his visa before he can become eligible for selection.

“We are really looking forward to Francis coming into the side and leading up front,” van Egmond said.

“Francis can hold the ball up, he can link up with other players and I think he is someone who will fill the number nine position nicely.”

Van Egmond believes the team are currently lacking a player to fill the number nine position.

“At the moment we really don-t have a number nine in the Club,” van Egmond added.

“Chris Payne is scoring a couple of goals for the Youth team but from what I have seen he is still trying to find his feet and needs some more games under his belt before we would consider bringing him in.”

Van Egmond is happy with how the team is progressing but says there is still a great deal of improvement needed.

“I really want the team to play the style of football where they control the game,” the coach explained.

“There is a lot of work to be done but if we keep working hard at training I am confident we will take that into our games.”

The Jets will return home on Saturday where they will take on Perth Glory FC at Ausgrid Stadium.
