Report: Jets record impressive win at home

The Newcastle Jets have their first two league matches for the first time in the club’s history after a 3-1 win against the Wellington Phoenix at McDonald Jones Stadium this afternoon.

1 | Almost the perfect start as Sotirio puts the ball in the back of the net. Buhagiar is ruled offside in the lead up to the goal.

4 | GOAL! What a finish, McGarry weaves his way through the Phoenix defenders to curl it past Oli Sail with his right foot into the bottom corner. 1-0.

16 | GOAL! Beka Dartsmelia with an absolute worldie into the top corner to make it 2-0.

39 | Goal Wellington. Kraev riffles one into the bottom corner to make it 2-1.

44 | Great counter attacking football from the Jets. Sotirio and Piscopo combine and find Buhagiar unmarked at the back post with a diving header to make it 3-1.

Half time.

51 | Buhagiar is played in behind Mark Natta. He can’t keep his shot down and it sails over the crossbar.

61 | Chance! Jenkinson finds McGarry at the back post but he can’t squeeze it in.

Full time.
