The Newcastle Jets will face the Gold Coast Knights in the FFA Cup Round of 32 on Tuesday 7 August at CBUS Stadium.
The fixture represents a first for both clubs, as the Knights make their tournament debut, while the Jets will face opposition outside of the A-League for the first time.
The match – kicking off at 7.30pm – will be available to live stream at www.foxsports.com.au
Jets’ boss, Ernie Merrick said his side wouldn’t be taking their opposition lightly.
“We’re expecting a tough match from the Gold Coast, they’ll be playing at home and no doubt be keen to put in strong performance,’ Merrick said.
“The boys will be fresh from an intensive training camp in Spain and I know they’ll be looking forward to starting our season in Australia on the right note.”
The Round of 32 matches will be played over four match-nights (Tuesday or Wednesday) between 24 July and 8 August (four matches per night).
In an effort to cover all FFA Cup fixtures, FOX SPORTS will provide a full live broadcast of one match per match night, with subsequent games live streamed via their website.
The national knockout tournament run by Football Federation Australia in partnership with each of the State and Territory Member Federations has seen a record number of entrants in 2018, with 772 teams entering the competition from across.
