Newcastle Jets are happy to announce that defender Emma Bates has re-signed with the Club for the following two seasons.
Bates joined the Jets on a scholarship deal last season after spending some of her younger playing days in the Club’s Academy.
Bates made her debut for the Club in the Jet’s 3-0 win over Brisbane Roar in December. She then went on to make a total of 12 appearances across the 2025/26 Ninja A-League season.
Bates is delighted to continue her journey at the Club.
“I’m very excited to have signed for another two seasons. It was a dream come true last year to sign my first pro contract and I’m looking forward to building on last season’s opportunities.
I joined the Jets when I was 12 and have since loved every minute of being in Newcastle and wearing Jets colours.
I feel really positive we can build on some of the foundations laid last season in Stephen’s first year in charge. We have some exciting young players and I’m keen to link up with our new signings and begin the hard work ahead of the new season.”

She showed strong growth throughout last season to demonstrate the qualities of a composed, ball-playing centre-back.
