Covid cases force Women’s match postponement, Men’s venue change

The A-Leagues regrets to announce that our Liberty A-League match scheduled for this Friday, 7 December, between the Newcastle Jets and Melbourne Victory has been postponed due to positive COVID cases within our squad.

The Club can confirm there are multiple people in our women’s football department who tested positive via either RAT or PCR testing. All players, coaches and staff with positive results are now in isolation and following the NSW Health directives.

The A-Leagues’ and Club’s primary concern is for the health and safety of all players, staff and their families. All positive cases and those close to them are adhering to relevant state government health directives.

The A-Leagues protocols continue to be effective for screening and subsequent PCR testing in detecting the virus and ensuring immediate isolation.

We will continue to work with the A-Leagues on confirming a new schedule for the postponed match as soon as possible.

The A-Leagues have also confirmed that our Men’s Isuzu UTE A-League match scheduled to be played against Wellington Phoenix on Saturday 8 January, will now take place at Netstrata Jubilee Stadium, instead of WIN Stadium. This will coincide as a double header with Sydney FC and Perth Glory playing afterwards in the Liberty A-League.
