Club Statement: COVID case confirmed from Sydney FC match

The Newcastle Jets have been made aware of a positive COVID case that emerged from our recent Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s match with Sydney FC in Kogarah.

This case involved a player from Sydney FC men’s football department, who was fully vaccinated, tested positive to regular rapid antigen test and PCR test on Monday 6 December.

The Newcastle Jets players and coaching staff are in the process of undergoing PCR testing and self-isolation and are adhering to the directions of the APL.

All A-Leagues players undergo daily screening processes which include daily rapid antigen tests, along with PCR tests.

No player, coaches, or operational staff members from the Club have presented any symptoms. Our A-League Women’s team are also not impacted.

We will update our stakeholders and supporters as we learn more.
