Newcastle local Cassidy Davis will lead the Newcastle Jets in the Ninja A-League this season.
Since making her debut in 2013, Davis currently holds the record for most appearances for the Club with 152 across the A-League. Davis will also be supported by another local in Libby Copus-Brown as Vice-Captain.
Davis is incredibly humbled to lead her hometown Club again for another season.
“It’s always a privilege to captain my hometown team, and I am excited to lead the girls into another season. Every time I step onto the field with the captain’s armband, I am reminded of how fortunate I am.
I’m a proud Novocastrian and I will give my all for this team and town both on and off the pitch. Last season marked significant progress for our team, and we are determined to build on that momentum.”
Newcastle Jets Head Coach Ryan Campbell said.
“Cass being captain again was the easiest decision I have had to make as Head Coach. She is a natural leader, both on and off the field. Her experience at this level is something that the entire playing group benefit from daily.
Cass will be supported by Libby who has really stepped up in pre-season, showing her leadership qualities and it has taken her game to another level. She demonstrates all the attributes of a footballer at this level and is now starting to help the younger players around her.”
The Newcastle Jets take on the Western Sydney Wanderers in Round One of the Ninja A-League this Sunday, November 3 at Cessnock Sportsground at 4 pm.
