Newcastle Jets midfielder James Brown is recovering well following surgery last Tuesday to remove two bone spurs on his right ankle.

Brown, who was on crutches following the surgery in the first few days, is back to walking normally.

“James has come through the operation really well and he has tolerated the early stages of his rehabilitation exceptionally well,” Physiotherapist Robert Dingle said.

“In the early phase of his rehabilitation we are working on getting his range and strength back into his ankle and hopefully he will continue to recover at an accelerated rate.

“James is working hard and will be putting in extra sessions to make sure he is well prepared when he returns to the field.”

Brown will be unavailable for Round 1 but the Jets are hopeful of seeing him feature in the early rounds of the 2012/13 season.
