Brandon Wilson joins the Jets

Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Brandon Wilson for the rest of the 2021/22 Isuzu UTE A-League Season.

The 25-year-old makes his way to the Club having recently spent time playing in the premier division of Finland, but prior to that featured for Wellington Phoenix, and more notably Perth Glory as part of their Premiership-winning team.

The Botswanan-born midfielder has also featured at the national level for Australia, playing seven games for the Olyroos and scoring two goals.

Wilson said he’s excited to jump aboard and be part of the new era the Club has entered.

“It was an easy decision to sign for the Jets,” Wilson said.

“The club is heading in a very positive direction and the way the Boss (Papas) wants to play football is high-paced.

“I’m excited to play a home game in front of the fans.”

Entering the squad half-way through the season, Wilson believes the side have the ability for major achievements.

“I want to win trophies and I believe we can do it here,” he said.

“Our goal must be to play finals football – that’s a minimum – and to go win the Grand Final.

“I’m really looking forward to playing this exciting brand of football.”

Manager Arthur Papas said Wilson’s arrival is a welcome addition to the squad.

“Brandon joins us at a time where our match schedule has resulted in the need to ensure that the squad has the depth to keep progressing for the remained of the season,” Papas said.

“As someone who has captained the Australia U23 National side, and accumulated considerable experience, we feel Brandon can provide considerable quality and make an impact.”
