The Jets fought valiantly, but weren’t able to find a goal as they went down 1-0 to Perth Glory at Hunter City Motor Group Stadium
It would be the away side that opened the scoring. The Glory were awarded a contentious penalty, after winger Josie Allan was deemed to have hand-balled the ball inside the penalty area. Badawiya stepped up and slotted the penalty past Henninger, giving Perth the lead.
Allie Thornton came close to equalising, but her strike would be held comfortably by Dall’Oste. Libby Copus-Brown also came close, having a shot blocked on the penalty spot by a Perth defender. There were heavy appeals for handball, but it would not be given. The score remained at 1-0 to Perth at the break.
Stephen Hoyle went to his bench in the 61st minute, bringing on Chloe Walandouw and Cameron Valladares, replacing Akeisha Sandhu and Josie Allan. A deep free-kick from Captain Cass Davis almost resulted in a goal. Cass launched the ball into the box from near the halfway line and sideline, with Tamar Levin flicking the ball across the face of goal. Allie Thornton lunged for the ball, but the Perth Glory shot-stopper was able to get hold of the ball.
Tamar Levin had a golden opportunity to find the lead 85 minutes in. Dundas found Valladares in acres of space, who flicked the ball over the defender, sending Levin in on goal. Tamar took her shot early, with Dall’Oste reacting quickly to get an arm on the ball. Levin also came close in the 90th minute, with her free-kick rattling the crossbar before bouncing clear.
Our A-League Women’s side are back in action on the 1st of November, as they head to Melbourne to face Victory.
