A stunning goal in injury time from captain Cass Davis has rescued a point for the Newcastle Jets at McDonald Jones Stadium on Sunday evening.
The match started in even fashion with both sides trying to settle into the contest.
The Wanderers were forced into an early change when Cushla Rue clashed heads with Lorena Baumann 15 minutes into the clash.
The first half finished level at the break with neither side managing to seriously threaten the opposing teams goal.
The visitors were the first to open the scoring when Vicky Bruce managed to prod the ball home from a set-piece in the 78th minute.
Gary van Egmond’s side pushed hard to find an equaliser and were rewarded in the 91st minute when Cass Davis struck a perfectly timed volley on the edge of the box to send the McDonald Jones Stadium crowd into delirium.
In her 132 league match for the club, Davis now becomes the most capped player for the Newcastle Jets A-League Women’s side.
