The Jets return home this Sunday to face off against Canberra at No.2 Sportsground, kicking off at 4pm.
Newcastle’s previous match against Western Sydney Wanderers resulted in a 1-0 loss for the Jets. There were crucial attacking opportunities for Newcastle during the game, however they were unable to convert any chances.
Canberra are also coming off the back of a loss, against ladder leaders Western United where they went down 5-0. Canberra have conceded ten goals in their previous two matches, also coming down 5-0 against Wellington away.
The previous meeting with the two sides just three weeks back, saw Canberra take the three points with a 5-1 win over Newcastle at McKellar Park.
The Jets will be looking to make a comeback this weekend and earn a crucial three points. They currently sit in 10th place on the ladder on seven points, Canberra is in eighth place with 11 points.
The significance of the three points for both sides this weekend is huge, with the two teams hoping to push up higher on the ladder, proving to be a great contest.
With the previous match resulting in a total of six goals scored between the two teams, it is clear that Sunday’s match will be a goal-scoring showdown. Both sides have scored 15 goals so far this season.
