It’s that time of the month again – Greater Bank Academy Player of the Month time!
More than 100 young Jets have been showcasing their skills throughout NSW this past month, with the boys competing in the NPL Northern NSW while the girls fight it out in the NPL NSW Women’s competition.
The Academy Team of the Month was announced at noon Saturday, with 22 young Jets throughout the system named in the respective Boys and Girls lineups.
From those 22, two players in particular have been singled out for praise.
For the month of April, those two players are Bailey Wells from the Jets boys U/18s side and Lara Gooch from the Jets girls U/14s side.
Gooch was selected in the Jets U/14s side at the beginning of the season, but the youngster has already seen minutes in three teams this season.
They’re with her own side, the U/14s, as well as appearances in the U/15s and U/17s outfit – just last weekend, the youngster made her Reserve Grade debut.
A utility player, Gooch has been singled out by Academy staff this month for her versatility across the park and a commendable work ethic.
Wells is a mainstay in the Jets U/18s side, who compete in the NPL Northern NSW U/20s competition, a midfielder who recently made his youth team debut.
That match against Hamilton was just reward for his form so far this season – four goals in six matches, with three of those coming in the month of April.
With one eye on Labinot Haliti’s youth team, Wells was selected for the award by Academy staff for his efforts and performances in both his own U/18s side and
Greater Bank have come on board as the Academy Player of the Month sponsor, with both Lara and Bailey awarded a $50 Life Saver account for their fantastic efforts in the month of April.
