Newcastle Jets can confirm that Kaine Sheppard is set to miss an extended period through injury.
Following a heavy contact from a defender which earned Newcastle a penalty during September 21’s friendly clash with Sydney FC, the striker sustained a rare ligament rupture in his foot which was confirmed by subsequent imaging.
After consulting multiple specialist opinions, Sheppard will now undergo reconstructive surgery. He will begin rehabilitation work under the guidance of the Club’s medical staff and the surgeon’s rehabilitation protocols.
It is suspected that Kaine will be sidelined until late January/early February.
