They’ve gone five games without a loss and the Jets’ Westfield W-League side will be looking to continue that run when they take on Adelaide United at McDonald Jones Stadium on Friday night.
Crag Deans’ side has enjoyed an extended break after a tough 2 – 2 result against Sydney FC on the road, and the head coach has the luxury of naming an unchanged match day squad for the third round in a row.
The Lady Reds head into the clash off the back of a 6 – 1 loss to Canberra, and currently languish at the bottom of the competition ladder.
While Deans and his player’s head into the clash full of confidence, they won’t be underestimating Adelaide.
“I think the score (for Adelaide) against Canberra probably wasn’t representative of the game itself, Adelaide created a lot of opportunities – they’re a dangerous team,” said Deans.
“They’re a good side who haven’t lost by many in any of their other fixtures, they’ll be keen to bounce back and put in a good performance and we have to be ready for that.”
Interestingly, the game that started the Jets current unbeaten run was a tough away win against the Reds in Adelaide.
“It was a tough game (in Round 7) and it was a really crucial one for us, it wasn’t pretty but we got the win and I think it really set us up for the run we’ve been on,” added Deans.
“We’re on a good run and we want to continue that, things can change quickly in the W-League with a couple of wins or losses in a row.
“We want to maintain our current position and give ourselves the best possible opportunity to play finals.”
