Two of Newcastle Jets’ highest profile players may make a return to action in this Sunday’s clash with Brisbane Roar at McDonald Jones Stadium.
Mateo Poljak and Morten Nordstrand have each been included in Mark Jones’ second preliminary squad of the season as the Jets ready themselves for round 2 against Roar.
Unfortunately, the news is not so good for some other senior players within the Newcastle Jets camp.
Daniel Mullen has an injury to his medial which will keep him out indefinitely, while defender Jason Hoffman (calf) and striker Aleksandr Kokko (Achilles) have complaints that will keep them out of action this weekend.
The Club can also confirm that after seeing a surgeon in Sydney earlier this week, goalkeeper Ben Kennedy has been ruled out for season due to a rupture of his Achilles tendon.
Mitch Cooper has been promoted to Jones’ provisional squad. Cooper’s only goal in the Hyundai A-League for the Jets in the A-League came against Roar last season, so perhaps he may fancy his chances if given game time on Sunday.
Andrew Nabbout, Ivan Vujica and Devante Clut made their Jets debuts last Sunday against Adelaide United, and could well be in line for more match play against John Aloisi’s side.
