In an initiative aimed at continuing to enhance the profile of the women’s game in regional areas, Northern NSW Football will take the Jets W-League Round 3 ‘home’ game to Oakes Oval in Lismore.

The game against the fancied Queensland Roar side which includes former Northern NSW Football female marquee Jenna Tristram, is scheduled for a 7pm kickoff on Saturday November 8.

Northern NSW Football Operations Manager Alan Nisbet said that the Lismore game was a great opportunity to showcase the new national women’s competition in regional NSW.

The game in Lismore is being supported by Lismore City Council and Football Far North Coast.

Tourism Coordinator Mitch Lowe is excited about the opportunity for Lismore to host a match in this new and dynamic national women-s football league which will help bolster Lismore-s reputation as a City of Sports.

“Women-s football is the fastest growing team sport for women in Australia and the Northern Rivers is no exception. Football Far North Coast has experienced incredible growth in women-s football in the past 3 years with over 1500 women now registered in the local competition”, he said.

“Lismore is indeed a City of Sports so I encourage all residents and sports fans to come along to Oakes Oval and support the new Westfield W-League in this new era for elite women-s football. The Roar v Jets match promises to be a fast-paced and entertaining fixture with plenty of action”, said Mitch.
