The Jets will play a trial at Adamstown Oval against Valentine Phoenix on Friday, 13 February with all proceeds from the gate going to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund.
The AFC Champions League 2009 campaign begins now for the Newcastle Jets.
The Hunter based club will take on NBN State Football League side Valentine Phoenix this Friday, 13 February with kick-off scheduled for 6:00pm. The trial game will be the Jets- first in preparation for the upcoming AFC Champions League 2009 tournament which begins in March.
As a gesture of goodwill, the gold coin entry fee will be donated to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund to aid those affected by the devastation caused by this month-s fires. The Jets therefore encourage all football fans to attend the match and support a very worthy cause.
Indeed, the football community in Australia has united during this tragic circumstance, with the Socceroos donating their match fees from last night-s encounter against Japan in a 2010 FIFA World Cup qualifier to the fund. This was in addition to $100,000 donated by Football Federation Australia this Monday.
In total, the fund has received over $8,000,000 thanks to the generosity of donators from around the world.
So get along and support your Newcastle Jets, and those in need of assistance during this difficult time, this Friday.
