The Newcastle Jets have this afternoon unveiled the club-s Hyundai A-League 2009/2010 season strips. Established star Adam D-Apuzzo and youngster Sean Rooney this afternoon wore the new strips during a photo shoot along Newcastle Harbour.
While the first-choice strip retains the gold jersey, navy shorts and navy socks that Hyundai A-League fans have become accustomed to, the Jets- alternate strip is decidedly different to anything the club has worn in the past. A navy jersey, embellished with gold and red trimmings, sits atop white shorts and white socks for this season-s new alternative kit.
Club chief executive, John Tsatsimas, today expressed his excitement regarding the new-look outfits.
“The new season kits certainly do look fantastic,” he explained. “We-ve maintained the tradition of the home strip by keeping a similar look to previous seasons. We felt that this was an important image to continue with as it comprises a significant part of our club-s identity.”
“The alternate strip is something completely different to what the team has worn before, it gives us something totally fresh, so I-m sure that the supporters will appreciate the change and become fond of the new look.”
“Now all football fans, including myself, will be eagerly awaiting the new season to see these kits out on the pitch,” Mr. Tsatsimas said.
Meanwhile, the team will travel to Port Macquarie on the NSW Mid-North Coast tomorrow to prepare for a Pre-Season trial this Sunday, 12 July against intra-state rivals Sydney FC. The Jets will then stay an extra day up north to attend the club-s Junior Jets Coaching Clinics on Monday to sign autographs and give children in Port Macquarie the opportunity to meet with their Hyundai A-League heroes.
Tickets for the trial against Sydney FC are available by contacting Greater Port Macquarie Visitor Information Centre on 1300 303 155.
