The Hyundai A-League 2007/08 champions are preparing to take on current title holder-s Melbourne Victory at EnergyAustralia Stadium this Sunday, 18 October before backing up just five days later to play host to fierce local rivals the Central Coast Mariners.
Despite tasting defeat in 3 of their past 4 matches, the Jets have been praised for their attractive style of football in recent times, and Elrich believes the side is close to converting that play into competition points.
“We-ve been playing some good football in the last couple of weeks and the boys have been looking great, it-s just a matter of taking our chances in front of goal and I think we-ll be alright.”
“We-ve got a good record against Melbourne so hopefully we can continue that this weekend,” said the dynamic right-back.
The 22-year-old today expressed his desire to see plenty of fans flowing into EnergyAustralia Stadium over the next fortnight as Newcastle look to move back into the top half of the Hyundai A-League ladder.
“In season 3, when we won the championship, I think the fans were our 12th man and that-s what we need again, the crowd support to get us through.”
“We-ve got two home games in a row now where hopefully we can secure maximum points,” he explained.
In addition to the football action on Turton Road, the Jets will hold a fan-s day at the stadium at the conclusion of the round 11 clash against Melbourne. Players and coaches will be available to sign autographs and have photos taken with fans after the game, with plenty of entertainment and amusements on offer in a great day out for the whole family.
“Hopefully the fans come out on Sunday and support us and we-ll make sure we spend a lot of time with the kids at the fan day to really make them feel a part of the club,” Elrich said.

The EnergyAustralia Stadium action kicks-off at 12:15pm this Sunday with the Jets and Victory National Youth League side-s doing battle, while their Hyundai A-League counterparts clash at 3:00pm. The Newcastle Jets fan day will then begin at 5:30pm.
