Further COVID cases confirmed in A-Leagues squads

Newcastle Jets can confirm the existence of further COVID cases within both our Men’s and Women’s A-Leagues squads.

Three players from the Club’s Isuzu UTE A-League Men’s side have tested positive for COVID-19 this week. In addition, there are a number of other other players who have shown symptoms and are being closely monitored as they await further test results.

Despite the current impact on the playing squad, the Club continues to prepare for our upcoming away fixture against the Mariners on Saturday 15 January and our home fixture on Wednesday 19 January at McDonald Jones Stadium.

The Club will continue to monitor the health of our Men’s team players and await further test results.

For our Liberty A-League Women’s squad, after having a large number of players test positive, these players have now returned to training and are preparing for this Sunday’s game versus the Perth Glory at No. 2 Sportsground. Whilst the majority of players will be back, we have now unfortunately had another player test positive for COVID-19.

We continue to focus on the planned home game versus the Perth Glory on Sunday 16 January in the Liberty A-League, which now has revised kick off time of 6:45pm.

The Club continues to work closely with NSW Health and A-Leagues to ensure the health and safety of all its players and staff as its top priority.
