As the Jets come into Round 7 against the Melbourne Heart, the team thanks fans for their support at last week’s successful game.
Round 7 of the HAL competition sees the club take on Melbourne Heart. The Jets thank all of their fans for turning out in the very wet weather last weekend and look to continue the team’s winning streak on Sunday.
In the Community
It-s been a quick 7 days since the last Jets home game, but the team has still managed to do a number of Jets in the Community activities.
The Jets are a partner of the Special Olympics Asia Pacific Games (SOAPG), and with the Games Opening Ceremony happening in just over a week-s time, the Club encourages everyone to get out and support this unique event.
Competition starts on December 2 and entry to all venues is FREE.
Look out for Jets players during the football competition as the Club supports a number of activities during the full week of the Games.
The Jets are also supporting NEWFM Philippines appeal to help victims of typhoon Haiyan. More than 11 million people have been affected making it one of the worst natural disasters to hit the Philippines.
The Club asks Jets Members, fans, family and friends to support the cause by donating any clothing so the people of the Philippines are able to begin to rebuild their lives.
Smaller clothing sizes would be the most benefit to the people of the Philippines.
It-s asked that all donations are delivered to the NewFM studio at 173-175 Maitland Road, Sandgate NSW 2304 by Friday, December 13.
AT THE GAME
The Jets’ focus at the game is White Ribbon Day and White Ribbon Australia-s campaign to change the attitudes and behaviour that leads to men committing violence against women.
Around the ground
On-field, local White Ribbon Day Ambassador, Kevin Maher, will take part in an on-field QandA. There will also be ground announcements and broadcast of the WRD commercial on the big screen.
On the corporate level, State Member for Newcastle, Tim Owen, and Ken Gilliespie are special guests in the Chairman-s Club. Ken Gillespie is a retired Chief of the Army and current Chair of the White Ribbon Australia board of directors. Both Tim and Ken will speak to corporate attendees about White Ribbon Day and its campaign against violence against women.
Ticket donations
Ticket donations have been made to local women-s refuges to enable families affected by domestic violence and other difficult circumstances to enjoy a day out at the football.
The game day ‘charity box- has been donated to our major charity partner the John Hunter Children-s Hospital.
