The Newcastle Jets are excited to announce that Poppie Hooks has signed with the Club for the 2026/27 Ninja A-League season
A centre-back by trade, Poppie Hooks made her A-League debut in the 2021/22 season for Perth Glory, playing four times for them before departing at the conclusion of the season.
Following a successful stint in the NPL with Illawarra Stingrays where she was named in the Team of the Year, Poppie returned to the A-league in 2025/26, signing with the Western Sydney Wanderers. Hooks made 19 appearances in Red and Black before departing at the conclusion of the season.
Hooks is thrilled to sign with the Newcastle Jets,

I’m dedicated to bringing strength and commitment to this squad and end up securing finals.”
A-League Women’s Head Coach Stephen Hoyle is delighted to have secured Poppie’s signature,
“Poppie really stood out to me last season with how hard she competed when we played against her. She’s an excellent 1v1 defender, is comfortable defending big spaces and is very strong in the air, and I’m excited to see how much further she can develop her game here in Newcastle.”
