Emerging Jets taste success on Grand Final day

The U18 Emerging Jets Girls were crowned Champions of the Women’s Premier League, while the U12 Emerging Jets Boys took out the NNSW NPL U13 title in Northern NSW Football Finals Series action over the weekend.

The U18 Emerging Jets Girls defeated Adamstown Rosebud 5-2 in the decider, with Kally Lewis and Grace MacIntyre both netting a brace, while Libby Copus-Brown also registered her name on the score sheet.

The U12 Emerging Jets Boys notched a 4-1 win over Broadmeadow Magic to win the NNSW NPL U13 competition in emphatic fashion.

In other Finals Series action over the weekend, Newcastle Jets Youth were defeated 3-2 by Weston Bears FC in the NNSW NPL First Grade semi-final.

Michael Kantarovski headed home from a corner to put the Jets ahead 1-0 in the 2nd minute of the contest, before Weston equalised through Conor Evans in the 26th minute.

The Jets regained the advantage through Tom Waller in the 49th minute, only for Michael Ryan to snatch victory for the Bears with two late goals in the 83rd and 87th minutes.

Newcastle Jets Youth will now take on Lambton Jaffas in the Preliminary Final at Arthur Edden Oval next Saturday for the right to face Weston Bears FC in the Grand Final.

In the NNSW NPL U22 competition, the U18 Emerging Jets progressed through to the Grand Final by knocking Hamilton Olympic out in a penalty shootout after the two sides were level at 1-1 after 90 minutes plus extra time.

The U16 Emerging Jets also progressed through the NNSW NPL U19 Grand Final with a 1-0 win over Edgeworth Eagles FC in the Major Semi-Final.

In the U18 Women’s Premier League Grand Final, the U15 Emerging Jets Girls were defeated 4-3 by Adamstown Rosebud.
