As part of the Club’s ‘Jet Well’ Community Program supported by Slater and Gordon Lawyers and the John Hunter Children’s Hospital, last week the Newcastle Jets made 13-year-old Jacob Moore from Singleton the team’s honorary captain for the day.
Jacob – who has bravely battled brain tumours since 2011 – was given the opportunity to lead the team onto the pitch before the round 24 game against Perth Glory.
He also visited the sheds prior to kick-off, where he was privy to the final moments of the team’s preparations for the fixture – something few people outside the direct team environment are ever permitted to do.
When the game commenced, Jacob took in the fixture from one of Hunter Stadium’s corporate suites, receiving visits from the likes of Scott Neville, James Virgili, and Sam Gallagher throughout the match.
The Newcastle Jets ‘Jet Well’ program will continue this April with two visits to the kids at the John Hunter Children’s Hospital.
