Andrew Hoole named Jets Player of the Year

Newcastle Jets wrapped up its 2014/15 season on Sunday with an Awards Luncheon at Hunter Stadium where the efforts and achievements of the Club’s teams and individuals were recognised.

Young attacking midfielder Andrew Hoole who made his 50th appearance for the Club in the final round of Hyundai A-League season ten on Friday took home the day’s major honour, the Newcastle Jets Player of the Year Award.

Australian youth international Hoole made 24 appearances throughout the campaign just concluded, scoring one goal and providing many moments of offensive spark.

While the nimble attacker will shift on to Sydney FC next season, his development since linking with the Jets from esteemed local outfit Broadmeadow Magic FC has been significant.

Hoole was also presented with the Ray Baartz Medal on behalf of Men of Football’s Newcastle chapter.

Nick Cowburn, who played consistently in the Club’s Hyundai A-League side towards the tail of the season, was recognised for his impressive performances with the Newcastle Jets’ Foxtel National Youth League Player of the Year Award.

Matildas star Emily van Egmond was honoured for her showings for the Club also, collecting the Newcastle Jets Westfield W-League Player of the Year gong.

The Newcastle Jets Member’s Player of the Year Award went to passionate defender Taylor Regan, while Edson Montaño (Hyundai A-League) and Braedyn Crowley (Foxtel National Youth League) were the Club’s top scorers in men’s competition.

Tara Andrews and Rhali Dobson shared the highest goal scorer award for the women’s team.

The Newcastle Jets Club Person of the Year Award was presented to Financial Controller, Nicola Brown. Brown consistently goes above and beyond her remit to assist staff in other departments with their endeavours, and importantly demonstrates the Club’s values.

The ‘BKs’ – Ben Kennedy and Ben Kantarovski – were also acknowledged for having surpassed the 100 Hyundai A-League appearance mark for the Club throughout the 2014/15 season.
