Report: Jets suffer defeat in Melbourne

Newcastle Jets have succcumbed to a 4-0 defeat at the gands of Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Friday night.

A controversial penalty was converted by Jake Brimmer to give the hosts the lead.

Newcastle had a decent spell of possession and created chances as Arthur Papas’ side looked to find a way back into the game.

Victory went into the sheds leading and extended their lead shortly after the break when quick back to back goals from Chris Ikonomidis and Nick D’Agostino had the home side leading 3-0.

Victory were awarded another controversial penalty after Mark Natta handled the ball inside the box. Bruno Fornaroli stepped up to convert the penalty and make it 4-0 at full time.
