Newcastle Jets youth sides have capped off a historic night at Valentine Sports Park in Sydney with two Grand Final victories.
The Jets Under 20’s side who are coached by Blair Newham defeated UNSW FC 3-0 courtesy of goals from Lachlan Griffiths, Joseph Smith and Isaac Smith.
The celebrations were soon followed by the Youth Team who defeated Nepean FC 2-1.
The Jets got off to the perfect start through Nicolas Kacev who scored inside the first two minutes.
Nepean FC equalised in the 60th minute after the Jets conceded a penalty.
The Jets pushed hard for a winner and were rewarded in the 89th minute when a Peter Grozos corner was met by Ben Van Dorssen who sent the Jets supporters into raptures.
Youth Team Coach Riccardo Marchioli was delighted for his side as well as the Under 20’s after the club secured league and cup doubles in both matches.
“We said we were going to go on a journey together and play some of the best football we’ve ever played and we were going to try and achieve something special and I think between the 20’s and first grade tonight, we’ve done the double-double which in anyone’s books is something special and I think now that needs to become part of the culture of the club.
We need to win and we need to win everything and we need to do it in a special way, in our own way, playing Jets football which is something that makes the supporters proud and I think both sides have done that tonight.”
