Newcastle Jets players, coaches, and officials spent time engaging with a variety of the club’s supporters on Tuesday as the club continued its preparations for Sunday’s Hyundai A-League and Westfield W-League double-header against Melbourne City at Hunter Stadium.

From 8:00am on Tuesday the Jets were joined at training at Ray Watt Oval at the University of Newcastle by some of its sponsors for breakfast. There team players and coaches mingled with club partners, before the sponsors took in training from the Ray Watt Pavilion.

Also venturing to training on Tuesday were several young people with cerebral palsy. The youngsters have been chosen to form a guard of honour for the Jets at the club’s Community Round this Sunday, which will raise funds for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance.

Those involved in Sunday’s guard of honour participate in mentoring programs funded by Greater Charitable Foundation, which is operated by the Jets’ Major Community Partner, The Greater Building Society.

Following training several first team players including captain Nigel Boogaard, Daniel Mullen, Lachlan Jackson, Mark Birighitti, and Ryan Kitto met the young people who will help welcome them on to the pitch at the weekend.

On Tuesday afternoon a total of 16 Newcastle Jets players ventured to four different local schools as part of the club’s Jets: Learn program supported by The Greater. Edgeworth Public School, Kotara South Public School, St. Benedict’s Edgeworth, and St. Patrick’s Wallsend all received one hour of interaction with Jets players as winners of the club’s ‘Decorate Your School Gate’ competition.

And last but not least, Newcastle Jets youngsters Radovan Pavicevic and Brandon Lundy, plus Jet-Man, ventured to Westfield Kotara on Tuesday night to help brighten the day of some lucky shoppers. Pavicevic, Lundy and Jet-Man surprised shoppers by handing them $20 Westfield gift cards to spend on their Christmas shopping, or complimentary tickets to Sunday’s double-header against City.
