Newcastle Jets players James Virgili and Mitch Oxborrow were on hand to farewell the Under 12 Emerging Jets team at a civic reception today at Hunter Stadium.
The team will travel to Japan on Saturday 19 July to participate in the Saitama International Junior Football Tournament including a pre-tournament training camp.
The Emerging Jets will serve as ambassadors for the AFC Asian Cup matches to be held in Newcastle in January.
Virgili and Oxborrow were joined by The City of Newcastle-s Lord Mayor Cr Jeff McCloy, AFC Asian Cup Australia 2015 Local Organising Committee CEO Michael Brown and Northern NSW Football Chief Executive Officer David Eland at the civic reception to with the young Novocastrians luck ahead of the tournament in Japan.
