20 year-old Jets striker Adam Taggart continued his impressive form with a double against the Brisbane Roar, his first in the A-League, in the Jets 2-1 win on Sunday at Hunter Stadium.
Both goals were quality finishes by the Jets leading goal scorer and coach Gary van Egmond believes the youngster is reaping the rewards for the hard work he is putting in.
“I was really pleased with him, the first one was a lovely little dink, look he-s a very clever player in the box,” van Egmond said.
“What was really pleasing was the fight and the want to run and press the opposition and scoring with his left foot which is something he-s been working on, full credit to him he gets the rewards.”
Marquee man Emile Heskey played the best part of 40 minutes against the Roar and van Egmond was pleased with the Englishman-s impact off the bench.
“I thought Emile was great, I was really happy with his contribution, I thought he was immense there up front,” he said.
“The way in which he held the ball up and I don-t think he lost a header, but we have to be careful in the way in which we utilise him.
“We can-t go direct all the time, he-s very comfortable with the ball either at his feet or in the air, we just need to make sure we don-t over utilise that tactic.”
