Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the loan signing of Syahrian Abimanyu for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
Abimanyu has joined the Jets after being loaned out by Malaysia Premier League club Johor Darul Ta’zim II FC.
Jets Football Manager Joel Griffiths said; “Abi is a very skilful player that can see a pass.
“He’s only young but possesses a lot of skills you look for in an attacking player.
“You can’t teach instinctive play and his football instincts are wonderful.
“He’s a very selfless player. The team first mentality gives me confidence he will slot straight into our team.”
The 21-year-old is a central midfielder who spent his youth career at La Liga, before making his professional debut in 2018.
He began his senior football career with Sriwijaya Football Club in Liga 1, where he made 8 appearances in his rookie season.
The following year, the left-footer signed for Liga 1 Club, Madura United, where he spent two seasons.
He made 20 appearances for the Club before linking with JDTII.
Nicknamed Abi, Abimanyu is a member of the Indonesian Olympic team having played in the under 23s, 16s and 19s, respectively.
Born in Banjarnegara, Abimanyu will not be able to kit up for the Jets until the A-League transfer window opens on February 16.
He is currently quarantining in Sydney.
