X-ray results have shown Jets midfielder James Brown will require surgery to remove a bone spur in his right ankle.
Brown, who will see an Orthopedic surgeon this week for a further review, is expected to miss the next 4-6 weeks of training.
“When a player has a bone spur, it is often manageable but we have decided to get it resolved now rather than trying to manage James through the season,” Physiotherapist Robert Dingle said.
“While it isn-t ideal to be missing the rest of pre-season, it is about protecting James not only for the short term but for the long term as well.”
This is a minor set back for the 22-year old, who had already overcome an injury to his left ankle this pre-season.
Brown had played the majority of the Jets’ trials before being a late withdrawal from last week’s game against the Roar in Tamworth.
