Sarina Bolden to depart Jets for Italy

The Newcastle Jets can confirm the departure of Sarina Bolden to an unnamed Italian side.

Although Bolden was contracted to the Club for the 2024/25 season, the Jets have agreed to let her pursue her dream of playing in a top European league.

Bolden joined the Jets in 2023 from the Western Sydney Wanderers off the back of representing the Philippines at the 2023 Women’s World Cup.

Bolden debuted for the Newcastle Jets against Canberra United in November, scoring two goals on her Club debut.

The Philippines international went on to score 14 goals in total, breaking the Club record for the most goals in an A-League Women’s season. Bolden was rewarded for her outstanding season with inclusion in the 2023-24 A-League Women PFA Team of the Season.

Newcastle Jets CEO Shane Mattiske thanked Sarina for her time and contribution to the Club.

“We wish her and her partner all the best for the future and we would love to see Sarina back in Newcastle playing for the Jets again in the future.

Sarina made a huge contribution to the Club last season and she will be sorely missed by our team and of course our fans. On and off the field she has been a great leader and has no doubt inspired and entertained a large group of young fans in this region and across the competition.

Sarina has a strong international football ambition, this understandably has had a number of European Clubs pursue her and through conversations with her, we’ve agreed to settle a transfer that will allow her to follow her ambitions to play overseas.
