Shandong Luneng made wholesale changes to their squad after the first period, making the most of the 14-man bench that they had available on the night.
The changes did help to stem the flow of Newcastle opportunities somewhat, however Jets substitute Cameron Joice, a former Australian U17 international, scored his first of the night 45 minutes into the game.
Joice nabbed claimed his brace 70 minutes into the game to round out the scoring in Broadmeadow.
