Newcastle Jets has today confirmed that the second annual Jets: Tour fuelled by Greater Bank will take place in August 2016, and culminate in a Hyundai A-League 2016/17 pre-season trial match against Central Coast Mariners at Scully Park Regional Sporting Precinct in Tamworth in association with Wests Entertainment Group.

A 30-person Jets and Greater Bank delegation will depart Newcastle on Wednesday 10 August bound for Tamworth where the team will spend three days training and engaging with the Northern New South Wales community ahead of the trial match on the afternoon of Saturday 13 August.

Jets: Tour 2016 will feature a number of highlights including two free Jets: Play clinics for community members in Muswellbrook and Tamworth, four Jets school visits in Tamworth, Armidale and Gunnedah, an open training session at Scully Park Regional Sporting Precinct on the morning of Thursday 11 August, and a pre-season trial between Scott Miller’s Jets and Tony Walmsley’s Mariners on the Saturday afternoon.

Newcastle Jets Chief Executive Officer, Lawrie McKinna, said Jets: Tour 2016 represents a great opportunity for the club to engage with its member and supporter base as well as the wider football community in Northern NSW.

“As a club we are delighted by the prospect of returning to regional Northern NSW for a second consecutive year,” McKinna said. “We know we have a number of avid members and supporters in the region, and thanks to Greater Bank and Wests Entertainment Group we have a great platform to meet with them and the wider football community this August.”

Greater Bank Chief Executive Officer, Scott Morgan, said Jets: Tour is another way Greater Bank, as the Jets’ Major Community Partner is helping the club to better connect with fans and other members of the community.

“As a customer owned bank, Greater Bank shares a bond with the Jets of working to serve the community and make it better,” Morgan said. “We have been serving the people of the Upper Hunter and New England for many years and it is great to also be bringing them some football skills clinics and the chance to see some great footballers playing great football.”

Wests Entertainment Group CEO, Rod Laing, said his organisation is looking forward to welcoming the Jets to Tamworth.

“We are really excited to host the Newcastle Jets again, especially considering 2013 was the last time that the club played on Scully Park 1,” Laing said. “It is great that we now have our new stadium to cater for these top class athletes.”

Greater Bank staff will be on tour to share more #JetsTour2016 insights and highlights for fans throughout the trip via the web and social media.
