The opening six games of the A-League season, and first four of the W-League season have been released with start dates for both competitions moved back with the anticipation of crowds returning to stadiums. The released fixtures sees us opening the season with a huge F3 Derby at home, enjoying two double headers, as well as a Christmas Eve bout. Our Newcastle Jets men will kick-off their season on Sunday 21 November against the Central Coast Mariners at McDonald Jones Stadium, and will receive three home games in 2021.

The gold is back. For the first time in ten years, Newcastle Jets will return to their roots for their home kit with Port of Newcastle featuring as the major partner on a new gold jersey for the A-League team. While the Club has most recently played in blue and red primarily, some of our greatest moments have come in gold. From the 2021/22 season onwards, the Jets will return to gold as the primary strip colour. This connection to the Club’s heritage will bond our future with the great players and moments of the past.
If there is one word that could sum up Angus Thurgate’s career, it’s sacrifice. Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of goalkeeper Michael Weier for the upcoming A-League Season. Weier, who stands at 6-foot-5, joins the Club making his way from the National Premier League (NPL) in Victoria. The 24-year-old spent time playing at Hume City, where he won consecutive Goalkeeper of the Year awards and the knockout Dockerty Cup, and Brisbane Strikers where he won multiple premierships. Weier said he’s excited for the opportunity to be compete at the A-League level.
What a ride it’s been for Matt Jurman. It’s one that’s taken him all the way to the top of Australian football, to championships and appearances in green and gold, and now he’s found himself in Newcastle Jets colours for the first time. This is Matt’s journey so far. THE BEGINNING It started at Wollongong where Matt Jurman grew up, before moving to the western suburbs of Sydney, graduating high school and heading to the AIS.
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of young midfielder Kosta Grozos for the upcoming A-League Season. The Australian U-20’s representative officially joins the Club from Western Sydney Wanderers after successfully trialling throughout the pre-season. The 21-year-old has already played seven games in the A-League at his former club and before that, was highly successful in the youth divisions winning the Wanderers’ NPL Player of the Year award and helping the side win the Y-League in 2018.
Whether it’s in Adelaide, Melbourne, or the Hunter, Valentino Yuel has shown his fighting spirit wherever he’s played - both in matches, and on the training field. This season sees a host of new players vying for attacking positions with many of them coming from overseas providing one of the biggest challenges he’s come across in his football career.
The current lockdown and restrictions have affected all households and families throughout the region and the Newcastle Jets have been no different. The A-League squad has been working hard on the field, putting in the work under new Manager, Arthur Papas, to make sure they’re more than ready for the upcoming season. The same effort has been demonstrated off the field too, as the team have been doing their best to gel with one another in a time of such uncertainty and isolation.
He’s only been in Newcastle for just over two weeks, but already Dylan Murnane can see evidence that this year can be a successful one. The 26-year-old has spent the past five years plying his trade in Europe, both in Norway and Finland, where he made 60 appearances for IFK Mariehamn, 29 for Kongsvinger and eight for the defending Finnish champions, Helsinki. However, the former Melbournian has come back to Australia not just to play, but to win.
Newcastle Jets are pleased to announce the signing of Savvas Siatravanis for the upcoming A-League Season. Having spent the bulk of his career in his homeland of Greece, the attacker has put pen to paper on a new deal with the Club that will see him with the club until the conclusion of the 2021/22 season. Siatravanis is a great addition to the Jets squad and provides another element in attack with his excellent positional play and technical ability set to cause headaches for opposition defences.
