The Newcastle Jets go up against the Central Coast Mariners at Pluim Park tonight in the opening round of the NYL.
The National Youth League kicks off this weekend and the Newcastle Jets go up against the Central Coast Mariners at Pluim Park tonight.
Following the elevation of players to the senior side this year, it is a relatively young squad with new talent coming into the 16-player squad. The majority are also locally born.
Sam Gallaway, Mario Simic and James Virgili moved onto the A-League player roster, which is a pleasing outcome for the Jets and the development systems in place.
The Jets will take the opportunity this season to be tested against the likes of Gold Coast United, Brisbane Roar and tonight-s opponent the Central Coast Mariners, who have set the bar in recent years.
This year goalkeeper Jack Duncan and midfielder Jacob Pepper are on contracts that allow them to train full time with the senior squad.
Pepper (pictured) will captain the team this season. Assistant coach James Pascoe has prepared the team for tonight-s game.
The Newcastle Jets are pleased to advise Jets members will receive free entry to all Youth and W-League home games.
The first home game for the Youth team is on Sunday November 6 against Perth Glory at Adamstown Oval. W-League also kicks off today however the Jets have the bye.
Let the F3 Derby begin! 6pm tonight at Pluim Park, Central Coast.
