Before Newcastle Jets attacker Radovan Pavicevic earned his entry into the Hyundai A-League as a professional footballer, naturally he spent time weighing up his career options.
An able student with a passion for power, Pavicevic set his sights on joining the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) should full time football not work out.
So, while the 20-year-old striker ultimately ended up living in Newcastle as a Jet, he may well have ended up living on RAAF Base Williamtown working with Jets of a vastly different kind.
“Before I got into the first team I was obviously looking at other options as well,” Pavicevic said.
“I wasn’t sure where football was going to take me, so I applied and made an account for the RAAF.”
With his interest in the Air Force, Saturday’s RAAF Base Williamtown round will be a special one for Pavicevic.
“I think it’s a good thing to have,” Pavicevic said about the club’s RAAF Base Williamtown round and strategic alliance with the local base. “It brings everyone together – the RAAF, the club, and the fans.”
“It will be pretty cool when the loud Jets fly overhead,” he said.
