A team of Newcastle Jets Old Boys will take on Central Hunter Police in a curtain raiser for the Jets’ trial match on Thursday.
A team of Newcastle Jets Old Boys will take on Central Hunter Police in a curtain raiser for the Jets- trial match against Weston Bears FC at Rockwell Automation Park on Thursday night.
The curtain raiser will take place at 5pm, prior to kick-off in the main game at 6.30pm.
Central Hunter Police are intent on building greater ties with the community and are using sport to help
With several police playing football in the local leagues Central Hunter Police Commander, Superintendent Garry O-Dell said the match is an opportunity to test their skills against the ex-Jets players as well as building ties in the community.
“This is a great opportunity for police to interact with a well known Hunter sporting team,” he said.
“These type of events do wonders in improving community relationships.
“Sport is always a bridge builder and I see this game as a great chance to show the human side of police and work with the Newcastle Jets”
Newcastle Jets players will also be assisting police in undertaking a community engagement at Cessnock and Maitland Shopping centres prior to the match.
Jets players will be at Greenhills Shopping Centre in East Maitland and Cessnock Plaza Shopping Centre in Cessnock between midday and 1pm on Thursday.
