Newcastle Jets to honour members of inaugural A-League squad

The Newcastle Jets will honour past players from the 2005-06 A-League squad on Saturday afternoon to coincide with the visit of Adelaide United.

To coincide with the League’s 20th year celebrations, players from the 05/06 squad will be in attendance as well as a host of former players to have worn the Jets jersey over the years.

Former players from the inaugural squad including Stuart Musialik, Matt Thompson and Franco Parisi will be in attendance.

Past players including Nigel Boogaard, Joel and Ryan Griffiths, Renaye Iserief and Tara Andrews will also be in attendance to celebrate the rich history of the Club.

Newcastle Jets CEO Maurice Bisetto said.

“We are steadfastly committed to connecting all former Men and Women players at the Jets. Without them there would be no Club. I hope fans attend in their droves to thank these legends of the Club.

The A-Leagues first ever match was played at McDonald Jones Stadium on the 26th August 2005 when the Newcastle Jets hosted Adelaide United in front of more then 13,160 fans. The match ended 1-0 to the visitors with current Adelaide United Head Coach Carl Veart scoring the only goal of the match.
