The Newcastle Jets are thrilled to announce that Malta U21 international Lucas Scicluna has signed a scholarship deal with the club for 2025/2026 season.
Having spent time in England with premier league club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Lucas made his first steps into senior football last season with the Central Coast Mariners, featuring for them five times across all competitions. Lucas initially joined the Jets in July, turning out several times for the Youth team, as well as featuring off the bench for the senior team against Adelaide United in the Australia Cup.
Scicluna is delighted to have signed for the club,
“I’m buzzing to have signed with the Newcastle Jets for the upcoming season. I can’t thank the coaching staff enough for giving me the opportunity. I’m really looking forward to working hard, learning and playing my best football here at the Jets.”
A-League Head Coach Mark Milligan had this to say on the signing,
“Lucas came to our NPL team late in the season and hit the ground running, contributing to what Damian was doing and adding to the environment with us. Lucas is another we see with a bright future ahead in this game and feel he will thrive and add to the current environment and culture both as a footballer and a person.”
