Newcastle Jets National Youth League player, Luke Remington, has been selected to represent Australia in the FIFA U17 World Cup in Mexico this month.
17 year old Luke has been a part of the Newcastle Jets Under 20-s National Youth League Squad for just one season, and was the only player to be selected within the Northern NSW area for the Australian team, The Joeys.
“Luke is a great player and it-s good to see one of our own representing Australia in the World Cup,” said Craig Deans, Newcastle Jets National Youth League Coach.
“I wish him and the team luck and I am sure they will be enjoying themselves over there,” he said.
Luke-s parents will be boarding a plane to Mexico this Friday to support their son and watch him in action on the pitch.
The Joeys play against Ivory Coast, Brazil and Denmark, before hopefully heading into the final series.
The hunt for the FIFA U17 World Cup officially begins on the 18th June in Mexico, with a total of 52 matches being contested.
