The Newcastle Jets have confirmed changes made to the football department.
After re-joining in the Club in July this year, Gary van Egmond has now been appointed to the role of Technical Director for the Newcastle Jets Football Academy and will oversee all aspects of the Academy.
Shane Mattiske, Executive Chairman said, “The shift of Gary Van Egmond into the role of Technical Director, recognises Gary’s expertise in identifying and developing young male and female footballing talent and signals a renewed focus by the Club on building an Academy which will support the region’s youth in their journey to becoming elite footballers.”
With the appointment of Gary into Technical Director role, Riccardo Marchioli will now move into the Men’s First Team environment as an Assistant Coach. This follows his recent success in winning a Premiership and Grand Final with the Jet’s Youth Team.
Newcastle Jets Executive Chairman Shane Mattiske believes the changes made will further help the Club grow after recent success in the Jets Academy and Youth sides.
Within the Academy, there are a number of vacancies which the Jets are in the final stages of filling. The appointments of coaches will see a complete Academy structure that is well position to build on the success of last season where 6 teams played in Grand Finals, and Four teams brought home Grand Final trophies.
