New Year’s Day match postponed due to COVID cases

The A-Leagues regrets to announce that the New Year’s Day match scheduled between Newcastle Jets and Melbourne City in the Isuzu UTE A-League has been postponed due to the positive COVID cases within the Melbourne City team.

The Melbourne City men’s football department previously confirmed positive COVID-19 cases on 22 December 2021 and as a result of the number of cases, the A-Leagues have determined that game postponement is necessary but City is expected to return to play next round.

The A-Leagues primary concern is for the health, wellbeing and safety of all players, staff and their families. All positive cases and those close to them are adhering to relevant state government health directives, in close consultation with the A-Leagues.

The A-Leagues will continue to work with all the Newcastle Jets and other clubs involved on confirming a new schedule for the postponed match as soon as possible.
