Former Newcastle Jet Stuart Musialik commenced training with the Club at Hunter Stadium on Thursday.
Musialik was a key member of the Jets- 2007/08 Championship-winning team and has since had stints at Sydney FC and Central Coast Mariners.
After spending some time away from the game, Jets head coach Gary van Egmond said it was pleasing to see Musialik back out on the training paddock.
“It-s been well documented the amount of time that Stuey has been out of the game,” van Egmond said.
“It-s fantastic that from a Club point of view we have one of our own starting to rehabilitate himself out on the training field and get himself an opportunity to get back to full-time football.
“Stuey-s a very, very smart footballer, has lovely touches and he-s already starting to talk to some of the younger boys and give them the benefit of his experiences.”
Musialik will train with the Jets over the coming weeks with a view to playing with the Jets- youth team in the 2013 NBN State League competition.
“He-s starting to train with us. We-ll get his rehab program all tailored to his needs due to how his body is at the moment,” van Egmond said.
“The next step is for him to play in the local competition and I don-t think there-s any better way for him to start the process of rebuilding his career.”
