Match Report: Jets unlucky as City take points

The Jets started the game brightly and had a number of early chances however Melbourne City goalkeeper Patrick Beach was up to the task.

The visitors found the breakthrough just before the half-hour mark when Kavian Rahmani
saw his shot hit the post and bounce past Jets goalkeeper James Delianov to make it 1-0 to City.

With both sides battling in the summer heat the Jets headed into the changerooms at halftime trailing 1-0.

Eli Adams was injected into the Jet’s team at the start of the second half and looked to add a spark to the Jets attack.

Lachlan Rose was played in on goal and cooly finished past Beach however the Newcastle striker was flagged for offside after a brief check by VAR.

The Jets pushed hard for an equaliser and came close through Mark Natta who hit the crossbar in the 74th miunte.

The visitors held on for the win to hand Mark Milligan’s side defeat.

The Newcastle Jets are next in action on Sunday the 14th December when they take on the Wellington Phoenix at Sky Stadium at 1 pm (AEDT).
