The Newcastle Jets have recorded a historic 2-1 win at Go Media Stadium on Sunday afternoon thanks to goals from Will Dobson and Lachlan Rose.

The Newcastle Jets got off to the perfect start when a Daniel Wilmering cross wasn’t cleared properly which allowed Will Dobson to fire in the opening goal to give the Jets an early lead three minutes into the match.
Auckland FC responded in the 14th minute to make it 1-1 when Sam Cosgrove’s header found Louis Verstraete who smashed in his shot past Jets goalkeeper James Delianov.
The Jets were denied a penalty when Max Burgess’ shot was well saved by Auckland goalkeeper Michael Woud however in the follow up there appeared to be contact on Dobson which was waved away.
Dobson wasn’t to be deterred as he slipped in a past behind a confused Auckland defence to give Lachlan Rose a clean shot at goal which he made no mistake from. The Jets went into the break leading 2-1.
Auckland almost found an equaliser just minutes into the second half when Jesse Randall saw his shot ricochet off the crossbar.
As the rain pelted down at Go Media Stadium James Delianov made a number of crucial saves to keep the Jets lead at 2-1.
Mark Milligan’s side held on for the Club’s first win against Auckland FC at Go Media Stadium.
The Newcastle Jets next face Melbourne City on Saturday December 6 at McDonald Jones Stadium at 5 pm.
