Match Report: 3-1 to the Good as Jets Beat Adelaide

Kelli Brown bagged two goals either side of a Josie Allan finish to secure a win on the road against Adelaide United.

Despite an overwhelming dominance inside the first 15 minutes, it was Adelaide who would have the first chance of note, with Jets Academy product Lara Gooch finding space on the edge of the box before firing towards goal. Ally Boertje, on debut, did well to hold onto the stinging strike.

The team were finally rewarded for their dominance in the 23rd minute, as Kelli Brown struck to open the scoring. Ayres linked up with Josie Allan in the middle of the park, before sliding Brown through on goal. Kelli darted in behind, before firing her shot first time just inside the post.

Hodgson would find an equaliser for Adelaide in the 40th minute, with her glancing header escaping the fingertips of Boertje before nestling into the net. The score would remain at one apiece as the half-time whistle was blown.

Josie Allan would give us the lead again just ten minutes into the second half. Hoban was able to get onto a searching ball from Kelli Brown, shrugging Tonkin off of the ball before cutting it to Josie Allan, who tapped into the open goal.

Kelli doubled her tally for the afternoon in the 83rd minute. An inch-perfect pass from substitute Haley Johnson sent Brown through on goal. One on one with the keeper, Kelli made no mistake, firing past Jenkins to put us up 3-1.

Despite a late push from Adelaide, we were able to hold onto the two goal lead to claim an important 3-1 victory on the road. The Jets are back at home on Easter Sunday against Melbourne City. Tickets are available HERE!
